Bertagnolli General Store, c1900

623 Dryer Avenue

The bottom floor of this building was the first general merchandise store operated by Constante and Maria Bertagnolli. The second floor served as the living quarters. This building features a formal Greek Revival façade, square wooden pillars and a wrap-around porch. In this store, many residents of Daphne first viewed projection of movie film and were amazed, despite the stuttering movements and frequent pauses for adjustments or repair of breaks in the film.
